Obituary for James Wesley Nesbitt

James Wesley Nesbitt, 73, passed away on May 21, 2023, of natural causes. James was born in New Albany, Miss., on May 10, 1950, to James Howard Nesbitt and Hazel Alexander.

James enjoyed sports in his youth. He was a known track star in high school, setting many records, and had a passion for math, helping many family members conquer trigonometry and calculus.
James married young to his high school sweetheart Richetta, and from them came three beautiful sons.
Left to cherish James’ beautiful memories are his loving children, Alonzo (Tanesia) Nesbitt, Marcus (Lisa) Nesbitt, and Toriano (Lorry) Perkins; grandchildren, Davaile, Sherod, Marquan Nesbitt, and Torre Perkins, Javaris Perkins, Jayven Cole-Perkins; great-grandchildren, Saniya, Shalaya, Kaleb, Shyla & Darnell Nesbitt; siblings, Hazel Lee Muhammad, George L. Nesbitt, Nettie Pearl Nesbitt, Diane (Darren) Taylor, and Roche (Greg) Hunter.
He was preceded in death by both parents; brother, James A. Nesbitt; sisters, Mary Nell Gentry and Debra (Robert) Jenkins; brother, Armando Nesbitt; his son, James (Poppa) Wesley Nesbitt Jr.; grandson, Brandon Nesbitt; and granddaughter, Tiffany Nesbitt; and many dear nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Services
A home-going service for James will be held at 11 a.m. on June 5 at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. James will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery.
