Phillip’s family moved to Racine while he was in grade school. He graduated from Horlick High School class of 1962. Phillip proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1971, stationed in Europe as a radio operator. On Feb. 21, 1976, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Beth Janecky. Phillip was a retired 30-year U.S. Postal Service letter carrier.

Phillip was a Ham Radio enthusiast and was a member of the American Radio Relay League. He preferred using Morse code and was an American history buff. He was an avid Packers fan who enjoyed gardening, house preservation, Volkswagens, flea markets, and antiques. Phil loved holidays, especially Christmas — he loved decorating for the season. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his family. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Mary Beth; sisters, Betty Stratton, and Jessica (Michael) Michna; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 11 siblings.

Services

A celebration of Phillip’s life and committal service with full military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on June 19 at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Please meet in the parking lot for the procession to the committal shelter.

Memorials to the American Heart Association have been suggested.
