Obituary for Vernon Clare Spaulding
April 24, 1942 – June 15, 2023
Vernon Clare Spaulding, 81, passed away peacefully at home early Thursday morning, June 15.

Vernon was born in Racine on April 24, 1942, to the late Benjamin and Frances (nee: Jantz) Spaulding. He proudly served our country with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War as a radio telegraph operator. Vern was employed as an accomplished machinist for his entire career, having worked for J. I. Case, Twin Disc and the Falk Corporation, from where he retired.
With profound Christian faith and values, Vern was an actively involved member of First Congregational Church in Kenosha for many years. In retirement, while living in Northern Wisconsin, he was a faithful member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Edgar, Wis. Vern enjoyed life to the fullest with fishing, hunting, golfing, boating, singing and playing guitar.
Surviving are his second wife, Ellen (nee: Lehman) Spaulding; sons, Vernon J. (former wife, Kathleen) Spaulding and Matthew C. (Karen) Spaulding; son-in-law, Terry Wright; grandchildren, Maggie (Jason) Suess, Abbey (Mark) Madalone, Alex Wright, Austin Spaulding and Andrew Nielsen; great-grandchildren, Caden, Jordan, Allison, Grace, Lynn & Ethan Suess; Trevor, Kalex & Elijah Wright; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Vern was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn M. (nee: Gabbey) Spaulding in 2019; and their beloved daughter, Suzanne Wright in 2017.
Services
Private family services, with military honors, will take place at Edgar Cemetery in Edgar, Wis.
