Obituary for Helena Wojcik

April 21, 1928 – June 30, 2023

Mrs. Helena Wojcik, 95, died quietly with her family around her on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Parkview Gardens Assisted Living Apartments in Racine. She was born in Rovno, Ukraine on April 21, 1928, the daughter of the late Joseph and Dominque Kovslo.

She grew up in Europe during WWII and was a Holocaust survivor. Helena married Marion Wojcik on July 24, 1951, in Mannheim, Germany, who preceded her in death. They immigrated to the United States in 1952 by boat to Ellis Island. Upon their arrival in Racine, they worked at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Helena retired after 38 years from The Western Publishing Company. She produced and worked with the world-renowned Golden Books. She was a proud member of St. Richards Catholic Church.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Carolyn Wojcik and Richard and Loretta Wojcik; five grandchildren, Natasha W., Richard (Carolyn Clapper), Marie (Josh Stromberg-Wojcik), Amanda, and Dr. Katharine (Kristen Wojcik), and three great-grandchildren, Ian W., Leif B. and Sebastian W. She will be dearly missed by her family.

Services

Family and friends are invited to meet for visitation at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home. A prayer service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at West Lawn Memorial Park.
