Obituary for Thomas W. Pietras, ‘Tom’
December 30, 1941 – July 28, 2023
Thomas W. Pietras, “Tom,” 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2023, surrounded by his wife and two daughters. He was born in Kenosha on Dec. 30, 1941.

He served his country with the U.S. Navy. On July 13, 1963, in Holy Name Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Mary Tradewell. Tom had been employed by S.C. Johnson-Wax, retiring after 37 1/2 years of service, as an electrician and robotics engineer.
Tom was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church, where he sang in the church choir and was a past member of the Parish Council. He was also a member of the J.M.B.A., the S.C. Johnson 20 Year Club, the Jo Wa Ca’s Camping Group, a H.O.G. member, the Our Harmony Club, the Navy Club, and AA-Benjamin House.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary; two daughters, Terri (Kevin) Cain, and Karen (Joe) Powell, all of Racine, and son-in-law, Nicholas Bobinger, of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren, Robyn (Jesse) Palomino, Marci (Jason) Trumpy, Cortney Presser, Nicole (Amanda) Powell, Kimberly (Andrew Goetschel) Powell, Daniel (fiancée, Haley Schonter) Powell, Richard (Laura) Bobinger, and Rachel (Chris) Luckey; nine great-grandchildren, Allison, Ben, Amelia, Eliana, Asher, Kaylee, Macie, Josie, and Julie; sisters, Janice Wenszell, of Union Grove, and Cheryl (John) Francetic, of Racine; brothers-in-law, John (Becky) Tradewell, of Madison, and Bill Tradewell, of Kenosha.
In addition to his parents, Carl and Jane Pietras, and father and mother-in-law, Wes and Frances Tradewell, Tom was preceded in death by two daughters, Joanne Bobinger, and Cathy Pietras, and four brothers-in-law, Dave Wenszell, George Petricek, Tom Tradewell, Jim Tradewell and sister-in-law, Margie Tradewell.
Services
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Friday, Aug. 4, at St. Richard of Chichester Parish, 15th and Grand Avenue. Visitation will be in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug. 3, from 5 until 7 p.m. and in the church on Friday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Entombment, with full military honors, will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to A.A. Benjamin House.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the ICU and the Medical Floor teams of the Aurora-Mount Pleasant Medical Center for their care and compassion.
