UPDATE (Aug. 11, 2023, 10:13 a.m.) — US Marshals Service Chicago Division took Abdullah Rashada into custody in connection with the shooting death of Billy R. Petty, 56, of Racine, one of two men shot inside Rerun’s Lounge, 1111 Washington Ave., early on Jan. 1 of this year.

Rashada was also wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting death of the bar’s operator, Avery “Rerun” Stewart, 66. That incident remains under investigation.

The Racine Police Department stated: “Thank you to the community and our Federal partners for all of their assistance in bringing Mr. Rashada to justice.”

RACINE (Jan. 9, 2023, 7:40 p.m.) — Racine Police have identified a suspect in a double homicide at Rerun’s Lounge, a Racine bar, early on New Year’s Day.

Abdullah Rashada, 24, is wanted for 1st-degree intentional homicide by the Racine Police Department and the US Marshalls Office. Rashada is described as 5-foot-11-inches tall and weighing 175 lbs. He is known to use the alias “A.J.” and has ties in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Rashada is also “armed and dangerous” and has “violent tendencies,” according to law enforcement authorities.

New Year’s Day incident at Rerun’s

Rashada is wanted for questioning in the shooting deaths of Avery “Rerun” Stewart, 66, and Billy R. Petty, 56, both of Racine. Police were called to Rerun’s Lounge, 1111 Washington Ave., at approximately 2:34 a.m. last Sunday (Jan. 1).

Police encountered “a chaotic scene” at the bar and confirmed that the two men had been killed. Stewart, one of the victims, was later identified as the bar’s operator.

A GoFundMe account was created last week to raise funds for Stewart’s funeral and burial expenses.
