A second person has died following a car versus pedestrian crash that happened last month in Mount Pleasant, said Sgt. Paul Maccari, of the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

Otto Theur, 77, died Wednesday at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.

Theur and his wife Ulla Theuer, of Mount Pleasant, were struck by a car Sept. 29 just east of the intersection of Sunnyslope and Washington Avenue. Ulla died at the scene after she suffered a skull fracture. Otto was transported with head trauma and internal injuries first to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary’s before being airlifted by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital.

The couple crossed Washington Avenue from the south side of the street, but they were not using the crosswalk, Maccari wrote in a press release.

A 44-year-old man was driving the four-door Buick LaSabre that hit the couple, and he stayed at the scene to help police with their investigation of the incident.
