The First Friday Quilters group of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Racine have 300 quilts packaged and ready to go to Texas. The problem is logistics. They are desperately seeking help in finding a truck to drop these quilts off for the survivors of Hurricane Harvey. The group has a total of 40 packed boxes of handmade quilts ready for pick up at 322 Ohio Street in Racine.

The quilters group meets every Friday,  8:30 am – 3 pm and is open to the public. The quilts made in this group have gone to many areas around the world that have experienced a disaster. Japan, Nepal, New Orleans and Cuba are just a few of the places that have been given these wonderful works over the years. Donations are also made for individuals suffering in the community: those that are ill or have experienced personal disaster.

If you know of a business or group that is making a trip down with supplies and would have room for these quilts, please contact Heather Kezler, 262-637-7431 or email hkeszler@resurrectionracine.org

Lutheran Church of the Resurrection provides a traditional service led by an adult choir and a contemporary service with the Revelation Band that offers songs of praise. Sunday at 8 a.m. is the Traditional Worship service, and at 10 a.m. the Contemporary Worship service begins. The contemporary service meets outside on the front lawn – weather permitting – from Memorial Day through Labor Day. You are asked to please bring a lawn chair if possible.
