Neighbors work in a vacant lot during the 2015 Lakeside clean-up. One of the girls said she sees too much garbage in her neighborhood and it was time to do something about it.

Residents of the Lakeside neighborhood and volunteers from throughout the community will take to the streets and alleys of the area to clean it up a bit.

This is the third year of the clean-up.

MPPD and Zoe Outreach Ministries are partnering this year to help neighbors continue making a difference in Lakeside by picking up garbage from 9 to 11 a.m. May 14.

Anyone interested in helping out should plan on dressing for the weather; the clean-up goes on rain or shine. Suggested gear includes long sleeves and pants, closed-toe shoes, gloves and a hat. Bug spray and sunscreen are also a good idea.

Gathering begins at 8:45 a.m. at Zoe Outreach Ministries, 2130 Racine Street, and crews head out at 9 a.m.
