Racine police have confirmed that a 4-year-old child was struck by at least one bullet Wednesday while sitting in a car in the 1800 block of Villa Avenue.
Officers were called at 5:42 p.m. to the scene for a report of a child shot while seated in a car after multiple shots were fired.
Rescue crews from the Racine Fire Department transported the child to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary’s where they were met by Flight for Life. The child was in critical condition and is being treated at Children’s Hospital.
Original scanner reports indicate the child is a girl, and she was struck in the head.
