The Lenten season is here, thank cod! Luckily, for Wisconsinites, fish fry dinners are available at various churches in Racine County.

You can support churches by picking up a fish fry or by dining in at a local church. You do not have to be a member of the parish to attend the fish fry lunches or dinners. Continue reading to find out where and when to go.

1. St. Patrick’s Catholic Church

ACTS Ministry is hosting lunch and dinner fish fry at St. Patrick’s Church, 1111 Douglas Ave. Meals are being served inside at Cristo Rey Hall. Fish fry meals are also available for curbside pick up.

Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. From 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. fish fry dinners will be available. For more information, call 262-898-5666.

2. St. Rita’s Catholic Church

After a hiatus due to COVID-19, St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., is back hosting their Friday night fish fry. They will be serving fish fry in their school’s gym. The fish dinner will include baked or fried cod. It is paired with your choice of fries or baked potato. Additionally, you’ll get coleslaw, rye bread, tartar sauce, sour cream, coffee, tea, or milk, and homemade dessert with your meal.

The fish fry occurs on the Fridays of Lent from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. starting March 4. Direct questions to St. Rita’s Catholic Church by calling  262-639-3223.

3. St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 305 S. First St., Waterford, is hosting several fish fry dinners in honor of Lent. From 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. they will be serving food via their drive-thru.

Dinner includes your choice of beer-battered or baked cod. The meal comes with either French fries or baked potato, and homemade coleslaw. Dinners cost $12 for adults and $10 for children. Contact the parish with questions or concerns by calling 262-534-2255.

4. St. George Serbian Orthodox Church 

St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 826 State St., is partaking in Friday night fish fry. They will be hosting their first fish fry on March 4. The next fish fry dinner will take place on April 1. Those looking to attend should enter at the side door located on Superior Street. Parking is available on the north side of the building.

Enjoy a 2-piece catfish dinner with 2 sides and bread for $12. Proceeds will go to fix the furnace at the church. Have questions? Direct them to 262-634-9512.

5. St. Lucy’s Catholic Church

Friday night fish fry dinners are taking place at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 310 Drexel Ave. Due to COVID-19, this event will be happening drive-thru style. This event is happening on March 4 and March 18. The event will start at 4 p.m. and go through 7 p.m. or until sold out.

Fish dinners are $12. The meal includes hand-breaded cod, french fries, coleslaw, bread, and butter. For $6 you can purchase a macaroni and cheese dinner with fries and coleslaw.

6. St. Mary’s Catholic Church

If you are in Racine County on Friday nights, then visit St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 108 McHenry St., in Burlington. They will be hosting their fish fry dinner on March 11, March 25 & April 8. You can choose dine-in or carry-out starting at 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. or from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. you can pick up your meal via their drive-thru.

Their dinner includes baked or fried premium cod filets. They are hand-breaded, chemical-free, non injected. For sides, you can choose french fries or seasoned potatoes. Dinners will include rye bread, coleslaw, tartar sauce, and cookies. Additionally, there is a gluten-free fish dinner available. Coffee and milk are included with dinner. Beer, wine, soda & bottled water are also available for an additional cost. This is offered for the dine-in option only.

Adult meals are $13. Children’s meals are $9 and are available for children ages 4 through 10 years old.

Not a fan of fish? Purchase a grilled cheese with french fries, seasoned potatoes, or tomato soup for $7.

7. St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church

St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., will be hosting one fish fry this Lent season. The fish fry will take place on March 11 after mass in Father Cox Hall otherwise known as the common gathering space. It will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. or until sold out.

The fish fry will include fried or baked fish, french fries, coleslaw, rye bread, a dessert, and coffee. The dinners are $10 each.
