Cubicles can get cluttered and messy all too easily. Keeping everything in order can feel impossible with such a small space. Luckily, if you follow these cubicle organization tips, you’ll find that the organization process is a lot simpler than it seems.

Empty Your Drawers

Start by emptying out that junk drawer filled with miscellaneous paper clips, broken pencils, and loose  papers. Rather than letting things become buried in your desk drawers, clean out your drawers so that you can put everything in its place.

Transfer Objects to Organizers

Organizers are some of the simplest and most effective ways to declutter your desk. All your office supplies should have their own corresponding spaces, such as pencil cups and cardholders. That way, the next time you need a pencil, you won’t have to riffle through your drawers.

Keep Everything in its Place

Place objects in spots that make the most intuitive sense and leave them in those respective areas. For example, if you’re a big fan of your planner, keep it right in front of you. If you’re always reaching for your water bottle, put it right by your computer screen. This cubicle organization tip will make your routines more fluid and keep items from getting jumbled.

Get a Trashcan

Trash has a way of piling up when you’re not right near a trashcan, so save yourself from the mess by moving one by your cubicle. That way, you won’t forget to toss those scraps of paper and broken pencils—they’ll go straight into your trashcan.

Always File Physical Documents

Papers have a way of cluttering up desks, making it difficult to find information when you need to. Make papers easier to grab—and boost your productivity—by keeping them in standing or accordion file folders.

Utilize a Cable Holder

Nothing is more frustrating than going to grab a USB cord or a pair of earbuds and realizing the cords are hopelessly tangled. Save yourself the headache and disorganization by investing in a cable holder. It’s a small addition that will blend in seamlessly with your desk, but its impact won’t go unnoticed.

Decorate Your Desk

This may seem counterintuitive, but by adding some personal touches to your desk, you can greatly increase your organization. When you add a beautiful plant or a picture of a loved one, your cubicle will feel more like your own, meaning you’ll be more inclined to keep it tidy. That slight touch of personalization will help greatly on your path toward organization.
