Caledonia police and firefighters are using an accident Monday to drive home the point that seat belts save lives.

The Caledonia Police Department posted on their Facebook page Monday photos from an accident at Highway 38 and 5-Mile Road in which three people were injured and taken to the hospital.

Because the patients were all wearing their seat belts, their injuries are non-life threatening. In addition to reminding motorists and their passengers to buckle up, officers in their post reminded drivers to look both ways three times – left, right, left – at stop signs.

“Three people were transported to the hospital for their injuries, thankfully due to seat belts and airbags, all of them are non-life threatening,” the post reads. “Please be careful, stop at all stop signs, look 3 times before you go and always wear your safety equipment.”
