Racine police are asking for the public’s help finding a man they say robbed the Elite Food Mart at gunpoint Tuesday evening. At 6 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the Elite Food Mart, 2703 Washington Avenue, for a report of an armed robbery. Witnesses say a man entered the store with a gun and demanded money from the cash register. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, he fled southbound on foot through a series of yards. Police were given this description of the suspect:
  • black male in his early 20s.
  • He was approximately 6’03” and about 200 lbs.
  • He was wearing a dark blue hoodie and grey pants.
Witnesses say he was armed with a small handgun. No one was injured during the robbery. Anyone with information can leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at (262) 636-9330, via the web at http://racine.crimestoppersweb.com/or by texting RACS plus the message to CRIMES (274637) and referring to Tipsoft I.D. #TIP417 with your text message.
