Barbara J. Scherr “Toots,” age 76, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 at her residence. She was born on July 9, 1942 in Milwaukee, WI, to the late Walter and Josephine Peszko.
Barbara married Thomas W. Scherr on November 26, 1960. She was a longtime member of St. Rita Catholic Church. She was a fantastic cook, and Polish entrees were her specialty. Barbara also enjoyed arts and crafts and the casino.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Thomas; her son and daughter-in-law, Kurt (Christine) Scherr of Racine; her grandson, Gerard Scherr; sister, Patricia (Jerome) Jozwiak of Milwaukee, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Mark Scherr.
There will be Mass of Christian Burial celebrated on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, located at 4339 Douglas Avenue. Reverend Rich O’Leary OSA will be officiating. Friends and relatives can meet with the family at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Private interment will be held.
