William Frank Zilla, 91, passed away on Tuesday at Villa at Lincoln Park.  Bill was born in Racine on September 11, 1926, and was the son of the late Louis and Mary (Nee: Benes) Zilla. During WWII, Bill joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre of War.  He retired from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department after serving over 20 years as a deputy.  He was an avid fisherman and will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Louis (Elsie) Zilla, Betty (Spencer) Bernett, Marcella (Robert) Lindh; nephew, Tom Lindh, niece Barbara (Tom) Lukas and longtime girlfriend, Doris Nilo.  He is survived by nieces and nephews, Sue Plucheck, Pete Lindh, Marie (Harry) Ertel Jr., Linda (Dave) Petersen, Laura Bernett, Stuart Bernett, Karen (Marvin) Yakos, Steven Bernett, Spencer Bernett; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.   Interment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.  Relatives and friends may meet Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Ruth Lilla, Andy Andersen, and the staff of The Villa at Lincoln Park and Ascension All Saints for their love, care, and support.
