A 17-year-old boy was found badly injured after he ran away from a home that had been burglarized Sunday afternoon in the 1800 block of LaSalle St.

Officers with the Racine Police Department responded to a call of a boy, who was bleeding heavily, running in the 600 block of Walton Avenue. Finding the boy in an alley in the 2100 block of Erie St., the boy gave the officers a false name, according to a press release by the Racine Police Department.

Rescue personnel from the Racine Fire Department took the boy to the hospital and found the parents of the name the boy gave police. But the parents told the police the boy that was injured wasn’t their son and they didn’t know who the injured boy was. He was taken into surgery to repair his arm, which had been severely injured.

Later investigators learned the boy’s name, but Racine Police have not released his identity.
