RACINE, WI – A Racine man is dead and a woman is in critical condition after they were stabbed early Thursday morning inside their home in the 3800 block of North Bay Drive.

Officials with the Racine Police Department have ruled the incident a homicide that stemmed from a domestic disturbance.  Children were inside the home at the time of the stabbing. They are safe and unharmed, according to a press release by the Racine Police Department.

Investigators arrested Lapiate Boone, 39.

Racine Police investigators are interested in any additional information that anyone may have about this crime.  Any witnesses, or citizens with information, are urged to call the Racine Police Department Investigations Unit at (262) 635-7756.

Update: The Racine Police Department has released the names of the stabbing victims; they are Gene Smith, 35, and Joy Reid, 36.
