Racine and Mount Pleasant police officers partnered Saturday with 50 students for the first Shop with a Cop event.
As part of both departments commitment to community policing, Shop with a Cop enabled elementary and middle school aged children to spend $200 on Christmas gifts for family and friends.
The goal is to strengthen the relationship between residents and law enforcement.
Donations from various businesses, organizations and individuals made this a day to remember, officers said.
Organizers hope to make Shop with a Cop an annual event.
