A Caledonia man was arrested Tuesday for operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana while driving in Mount Pleasant.

A Mount Pleasant police officer reported that just before midnight Wednesday he saw Daniel White, 31, back out of a driveway onto Highway MM near Northwestern Avenue, without any headlights. He stopped the man’s vehicle, and said he saw White trying to switch seats with the front-seat passenger.

According to the criminal complaint White’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy, he was slurring his speech and smelled of alcohol. He failed field sobriety tests.

When the officer searched the vehicle, the criminal complaint states, he found an open can of beer near the driver’s side, and when he searched White, found a bag of suspected marijuana.

A blood draw was performed; the results are not yet known.

White has prior convictions for operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana, according to the complaint.
