Recently, the Caledonia Police Department shared a round-up of their encounters on their Facebook page. The following incidents took place between March 9 and March 14.

The Caledonia Police Department responded to 318 calls for service, 93 traffic stops, 4 OWIs and two accidents. These reports were posted on Facebook by DC Engleman from the Caledonia Police Department.

March 9, 2022 Report

At 1:40 p.m. on the 8000 block of Four Mile Road, the Caledonia Police Department responded to a call due to an identity theft complaint. The Caledonia Police Department wrote, “the victim stated that someone had opened a DirecTV account with their personal information and now were being told they owed $1,000 to DirecTV.” There is currently an ongoing investigation regarding this matter.

March 10, 2022 Report

The Caledonia Police Department stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at 12:41 a.m on State Highway 31 and Meadows Drive. According to the police department, when approaching the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana was detected. A search of the vehicle was made by a Caledonia Police Department officer. Additionally, “upon search of the vehicle, marijuana, a digital scale, two handguns and an AR-15 rifle were located along with ammunition.”

The Caledonia Police Department reports that none of the occupants in the vehicle had a concealed carry permit. The subjects were transported to jail on charges for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed weapon(s).

March 14, 2022 Report

At 11: 25 p.m. on the 8600 block of Nicholson Road, Caledonia Police Department officers were dispatched for a family trouble call. The police department stated, “upon arrival, it was determined that there had been an argument between a husband and wife.

The male stated that his wife had struck him several times prior to fleeing the residence.” Due to this, charges of Battery and Disorderly Conduct were referred to the District Attorney’s Office on the female subject. From there, the Caledonia Police Department stated that “the female subject later spoke with the officers but declined to give a written statement or reveal her exact whereabouts.”

March 13, 2022 Report

At 11: 54 p.m., Caledonia Police Department officers were dispatched to Walgreens due to a shoplifting complaint. The police department stated that “a male and female subject came into the store and filled a cart with various items and then left the store without paying for them.” The pair left in a dark-colored minivan. There is an ongoing investigation happening at this time.
