Caledonia police are asking for the public’s help find the thieves who have made off with 1,000 gallons of gas from a local gas station.

According to a story in The Journal Times, on July 25 and 27 as well as on Aug. 3, video surveillance catches on camera a red cargo van as the driver pulls up to the pump, and a man gets out. Investigators believe he is using a device of some kind to bypass the credit card reader so he can fill up large barrels inside the van before leaving.

The thefts all took place during the overnight hours of 12:30 and 2:30 a.m. at the BP located at 7952 E. Frontage Road, the story continues. Other vehicles may be involved; a white Cadillac Escalade and a dark Chevy Suburban.

A total of 1,316 gallons of gas have been stolen.

If anyone has information, they can leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at (262) 636-9330 or text RACS with the message to 274637 (CRIMES).
