The Caledonia Police Department’s weekly police reports were recently shared on their Facebook page. The following incidents took place between April 6 and April 13. During that week, the Caledonia Police Department responded to 399 calls for service. These calls included two OWIs, eight accidents, 117 traffic stops and five fraud complaints.
The following are incidents reported by the Caledonia Police Department:
April 6, 2022
At 7 p.m. in the Crestview neighborhood, a caller advised the Caledonia Police Department that there was an individual acting “weird” and that the subject was holding a hatchet or a hammer. The Caledonia Police Department states that “officers located a father, 61, and son, 31, matching the description given. The son was in possession of a small throwing axe the size of a hammer and he admitted to tossing it in the air while they were walking. They also admitted to trespassing in a neighbor’s yard to get a better look at a decorative yard statue.”
The Caledonia Police Department spoke to the individuals about their behavior and released the individuals.
April 7, 2022
Around 4:15 p.m. an officer from the Caledonia Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle called in as a reckless driver due to speed and an apparent inability to drive without swerving. The officer was dispatched to County Highway K at County Highway V. The vehicle failed to yield to the officer and began to flee northbound on I-94 when the officer made an attempt to stop the driver. Following the flee, the pursuit terminated at the Milwaukee County line due to the dangerous driving and road conditions.
Milwaukee County authorities also pursued the vehicle. They, however, also terminated their pursuit due to reckless driving. Later, the vehicle was located in an alley in Milwaukee and the driver was taken into custody by Milwaukee Police on related charges. The driver was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
April 8, 2022
At 8:30 a.m. at State Highway 31 at the Root River, Caledonia Police Officers assisted Wisconsin DNR wardens in the recovery of a deceased adult bald eagle. The eagle was located the night before while officers were searching for a subject who fled from a traffic stop on State Highway 31. The DNR transported the Eagle to a lab for a necropsy to determine the cause of death.
April 12, 2022
The Caledonia Police Department reported to the Caledonia Municipal Court at 3:55 p.m. on April 12. Officers responded to assist in performing bailiff duties as a 37-year-old Milwaukee man, who was in court on traffic charges, became disorderly and threw hand sanitizer at members of the gallery.
“The subject engaged in loud, boisterous behavior and was arrested on disorderly conduct and resisting charges as he tried to prevent officers from transporting him to the jail. He was also cited for having false plates on his vehicle after he admitted to driving to court displaying Florida plates on his vehicle.”
