Honoring Racine’s Women Veterans
July 22, 2020 @ 11:00 AM – August 2, 2020 @ 6:00 PM
The Racine Legacy Museum has coordinated a special event to recognize, honor, and celebrate Racine’s Women Veterans. The I Am Not Invisible (IANI) exhibit will be on display July 22 – 26 and July 29 – August 2 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The INAI exhibit began as a special oral history project for the WDVA Museum with a purpose to complete longer oral history interviews with the IANI participants to give them an opportunity to share their stories at length and add the stories to the museum collections.
The Legacy Museum will be displaying uniforms and artifacts depicting Racine’s Women Veterans from the beginning of the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC) to Racine Medal of Honor Recipient Laurel Clark to the modern era.
Racine County Veterans Service Officer, Zach Zdroik is arranging for his office, the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Administration, and Union Grove Veterans Home and Cemetery facility to provide information specifically for women veterans.
