Juneteenth Day Celebration at the Bryant Center

City of Racine Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services, and the Dr. John Bryant Community Center will host a Juneteenth Day Celebration on Saturday, June 19, 2021, from 12-8 p.m. at 601 Caron Butler Drive in Racine. The event is free and open to the public. A full day of performances, basketball games, children’s activities, food, and more will make for an enjoyable day of celebration for the entire family.
The Juneteenth Day Celebration is sponsored by the City of Racine Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services, Caron Butler, S.C. Johnson, Racine Mirror, Insider News Racine, Educators Credit Union, the All of Us Research Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and African American Council, S.C. Johnson.
Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth Independence Day or Freedom Day, is a holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas, and more generally the emancipation of African-American slaves throughout the Confederate South.
