The family of Rob Johnson is holding a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. Friday at the corner of Mound Avenue and 6th Street, and they are asking that anyone who attends wear white.

Johnson died Oct. 10 from injuries suffered in an accident Oct. 8 at the intersection of Mound and 6th Street. His friend, Dartavian Watson, was driving and is facing second degree reckless homicide charges for Johnson’s death.

In addition to wearing white, Johnson’s family asks that family and friends bring candles and “anything else that might be in their heart.”

Johnson’s minister, Pastor Lawrence L. Kirby II of Second Baptist Church in Kenosha, can’t attend so he asked Bishop James Ford of The Vine Ministries and Pastor Daryn D. Crenshaw from Christ Community Church to lead those gathered in prayer.

Johnson’s funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. on his birthday, Thursday, Oct. 22 at St. Paul Baptist Church, 1123 Center Street. Visitation begins at 10 a.m.
