A 20-year-old Milwaukee woman faces three criminal charges after she led deputies on a car chase on June 9.

Amber I. Lagrone faces two felony charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety. Each charge carries a fine of $25,000 and 10 years in prison. A felony charge of attempting to flee or elude an officer, which carries a fine of $10,000 and three years, six months in prison, was also filed by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.

Details on car chase

According to the criminal complaint:

A caller reported to 911 that a vehicle was traveling between 90 and 100 mph northbound on Highways 41/94 from Highway KR in the Village of Mount Pleasant.

A deputy with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department clocked the vehicle at 102 mph and attempted to stop the defendant, who eventually exited in Franklin. And the car chase began. The officer lost sight of the vehicle as it traveled through a FedEx parking lot, where it damaged a fence, and then exited onto 27th Street.

The vehicle was located in a driveway on 27th Street, and the driver and two passengers were eventually located in a yard nearby. Deputies later learned the vehicle had a fake, temporary Wisconsin license plate, and a check revealed it was registered in Georgia to an Enterprise Car Rental.

Lagrone is due back in Racine County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing June 20 at 8:30 a.m.
