A car fire that happened at 1:48 a.m. Thursday morning in Mount Pleasant has been ruled suspicious by the South Shore Fire Department.

No one was injured during the blaze.

Police, fire, and rescue workers were called to a report of a car fire in the 3000 block of Meyer Court. The car was parked in front of the garage doors of an attached garage, according to a press release by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

When officers arrived on scene, the car was “fully engulfed in flames” and had spread to the eaves on the garage. Officers and firefighters began to evacuate the surrounding residents at the condominium. As other units responded, those firefighters started to put out the fire and were able to knock it down quickly.

Officials with the Mount Pleasant Police Department are conducting an investigation.
