The jobs are here… where are the workers?
Employers already struggle with finding skilled workers. But, they fear the problem will get worse before it will get better. Still, federal and state agencies are pouring millions of dollars into recruitment and training programs. Meanwhile, one of the largest manufacturing campuses in the United States is being built right in Racine County. And that will bring in thousands of more jobs.
So for many employers, the question remains — where are all the workers?
During the next four months, Racine County Eye will look weekly at the worker shortage through the lens of employers, workers, those trying to find work, as well as social services agencies. We’ll also highlight information on the local labor market, offer resources and feature job listings.
If you have a story about working in Racine County or are looking for work and want to connect with our exclusive content, take our survey by texting WORK to 262-205-2853.
