The Caledonia Plan Commission gave its blessing for Christian Faith Fellowship Racine Inc, 3303 Nicholson Rd., to start building a 6,880 square-foot addition to its existing 5,100 square foot building.

Willie Scott, pastor at the church, told the plan commission that they plan to use the addition as the new sanctuary and office space. The older section as a multi-use building for its Sunday School program. The project also includes building a 1,300 square-foot detached garage.

Scott along with the builder and Deacon Tom Jones explained to the Plan Commission members Tuesday that the initial church, which has 250-plus members, was built in 2010.

Milwaukee-based Peine Design Inc. designed the project. C & S Builders, owned by Scott Pritchard, is building the addition.

They hope to start the project in June. Depending on how many volunteers they get to help build the building will determine how fast it gets built, but they have a two-year target, Pritchard said.

However, the Caledonia Village Board will need to give a final approval at its meeting on June 6.
