Thanks to the generous contributions of the greater Racine community, 111 students from in and around the Lakeside neighborhood will start school with the supplies they need to help them be successful.

Mount Pleasant police officer James Kelley was a little worried about whether or not there would be enough donated school supplies to outfit 100 students, so he was happy to see the tables piled high with backpacks, notebooks, markers, colored pencils, rules, pens and pencils and more.

“It turned out great!!” he said. “We had 111 kids.”

Volunteer Paula Huck agreed.

“It was a huge success!”
