Journalism. We believe it should help you live a better life.

That’s why we spend a lot less time on publishing mug shots and a lot more time helping you understand the employment market, figure out how to spend more time with friends and family with our events calendar, and what you can do to help businesses that have opened up. Make no mistake…we aren’t shy. We tackle the big stuff, like COVID and issues around race.

And if you believe in the value of journalism — that it should help, not exploit — please consider becoming a paid member of the Racine County Eye today. We can’t do this work without you.

Racine police are asking the public’s help find the suspect(s) who stole the cash register from Pia’s Restaurant during the overnight hours of Aug. 19.

Officers were called around 6:45 a.m. Aug. 19 for a report of a break-in and burglary at Pia’s, 1757 Taylor Avenue. When police arrived, employees told them someone kicked in the north door and stole the cash register.

The break-in is believed to have occurred between 1 and 6 a.m. Given the trail of coins, the suspect(s) fled west on 18th Street.

Anyone who was in the vicinity and may have seen anything can leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at (888) 636-9330, via the web: http://racine.crimestoppersweb.com, or text message: RACS to 274637(crimes).
