Finding day trips that the whole family will enjoy can be hard at times.  But this is the time of year it’s easy, with fall activities happening all around Racine County and beyond. And, any road trip you take will be enhanced by the beauty of the trees turning their majestic fall colors of yellow, orange, purple, and red.

Here is one day trip we think everyone will enjoy, so pack the kids in the car and head south to Brookfield, Illinois this weekend for one of those family memories you will never forget.

It’s Boo! at the Zoo time at Brookfield Zoo!

Starting this Saturday through October 28, Brookfield Zoo will be entertaining little ghosts and goblins, prince and princesses of all ages. This is a not so scary event filled with fun for the entire family.

Imagine a 1 thousand pound pumpkin!  These giants will be carved by professional pumpkin carvers and on display daily.  Got a sweet tooth? Over 12 thousand pounds of candy will be stock-piled at 5 candy stations located throughout the zoo. Craft stations, cookie and cupcake decorating, haunted hay rides, the “crazed maize” corn maize, and a ride on the creepy cowboy carousel will keep your family busy all day.

There’s also a daily costume parade at 1 p.m. and costume contest at 1:30 p.m., so make sure you’re sporting your scariest looks!

Make sure to get an early start because each day a new group of animals; grizzly bears, dolphins, rhinos and hippos, goats and reindeer, gorillas and orangutans will be treated to pumpkin  feasts schedule at either 10:15 a.m. or 11 a.m. And zoo chats with the animals are scheduled throughout the day.

So, pack up a picnic lunch for all, or enjoy Boo at the Zoo specials on site.  Oh, and make sure Mom and Dad get to rest with a spooky craft brew too!
