The Downtown Racine Corporation’s annual public art project will be featuring benches with art reflecting Racine’s past, present and future. The DRC has extended the artist application deadline to Friday, April 5. Those interested in creating unique, Racine-themed design can complete the application at racinedowntown.com or pick up at the DRC office, 425 Main St.
The DRC is partnering with the Veteran’s Outreach of Wisconsin for the first time in the public art project’s 18 year existence in Downtown Racine. Veterans are building the benches and a portion of the proceeds will go directly back to the Veteran’s Outreach.
“A community art project like this could not be pulled off without the support from our local artists and sponsoring businesses. The public art provides an excellent opportunity to showcase our thriving art community and beautiful downtown by attracting thousands of visitors to the area to view the pieces.” -Kelly Kruse, Executive Director, Downtown Racine Corporation
