Travelers who use Amtrak and park their cars at the Sturtevant depot will face higher parking fees starting December 1.
Daily rates are currently $5, and monthly parking is $60. On Dec. 1, those costs rise to $7 and $80, respectively.
Village Administrator/Clerk Mary Cole recommended the price increase to bring the Sturtevant station in line with other train station lots along the Hiawatha line between Milwaukee and Chicago. Those funds pay for maintenance and upgrades at the depot.
In other news, village residents can express their opinions and thoughts and ask questions about the 2016 village budget at the required public hearing at 6 p.m. Nov. 3 at Village Hall.
Area residents are also invited to a public information meeting about planned economic development along Highway 11. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at Village Hall.
