The Racine County Sheriff’s Department took a 44-year-old Racine man into custody Monday for possession of child pornography.

Kent Sargent was charged Tuesday in Racine County Circuit Court with six felony counts of possession of child pornography. If convicted, he faces up to 150 years in jail and/or up to $600,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, the Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes against Children (ICAC) Unit executed a search warrant on Sargent’s home Monday as part of an on-going investigation. Specifically, officers were looking into child pornography being shared on ARES, a peer-to-peer file sharing network.

On Sargent’s computer investigators say they found multiple videos of pre-teen girls – including one known victim – performing sex acts with adult males.

During his interview with ICAC agents, Sargent admitted the laptop computer on which the videos were found was his and that he downloaded the videos after specifically used the search terms “young,” “Lolita,” “pre-teen” and “illegal.”

Sargent remains in the Racine County Jail on a $25,000 bond. If he posts bail, the court is prohibiting him from using the Internet from any device and to have absolutely no contact with any minors. His preliminary hearing is March 5.
