Racine County will be showcased in a special episode of Discover Wisconsin featuring girlfriend getaways across the state. Premiering this Saturday and Sunday (March 12-13), host Mariah Haberman recruits her girlfriends to discover destinations and recreational opportunities in Beloit, the Fox Cities, Racine and Waupaca.

The program airs locally Saturday at 10 a.m. on Fox Sports Wisconsin (check cable listings) and Sunday at 10 a.m. on WITI-TV (Channel 6). It may also be streamed online at discoverwisconsin.com.

In Racine County, the show joins Haberman and friends at Milaeger’s, where the group participates in a container gardening class. The Discover Wisconsin crew featured a unique ladies’ event in Funky Hannah’s two-day “Bead Camp” at the DeKoven Center. The Lighthouse Quilter’s Guild fall quilt show and O&H Danish Bakery are also featured.

“From jewelry-making to gardening classes to Wisconsin’s state pastry, Racine provides us ladies umpteen reasons to round up our gal pals for a weekend getaway,” said Haberman. “Racine is a remarkable community and one that truly deserves the honor of being named an official 2016 Discover Wisconsin Choice Destination!”

The Racine area segment was produced in partnership with Real Racine, Racine County’s destination marketing organization.

“Girlfriend Getaways” will reach Discover Wisconsin’s broadcast network of 500,000 viewers across the upper Great Lakes region, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Northern Illinois, and Upper Michigan. The episode was produced by Jodi Lyon.
