To commemorate its 10th anniversary, the First Fridays Committee kicked off a summer-long celebration by asking the community to make a new logo for the occasion.

Seven artists submitted 16 designs. But Kim Rouse, of Racine, won the contest by earning the most likes on Facebook.

Rouse’s design features a guitar, stars and a moon.

Downtown Racine Corp., and some downtown area businesses sponsor a number of community events including First Fridays.

“The competition was stiff,” said Vicki Hastings, marketing director for the Racine Downtown Corp. “Every logo submitted was unique and awesome; but the committee had to narrow it down to the top three.”
