The driver of a vehicle that started on fire Friday was uninjured, and the cause of the incident is under investigation.
Racine Fire Department Lt. Scott Sorce in a written release said crews were called at 2:46 p.m. to the corner of Graceland Boulevard and Ohio Street for a report of a vehicle fire.
When firefighters arrived, they found the driver safely on the sidewalk and quickly extinguished the fire. The female driver told them she saw smoke coming from the hood of the car so she pulled over to check on the problem, but the fire spread to the interior of the car.
Crews from the Racine Department of Public Works were called to the scene to evaluate the condition of the roadway while firefighters blocked off the road.
There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
