Wisconsin drivers who have plans to travel through Illinois heading toward Elgin need to be aware of a new toll road that could cost you big bucks.

State Highway 390 is a new tollway spur that connects motorists with the western suburbs of Chicago off of I-290 in the Elgin-O’Hare corridor, and it is the first electronic-only tollway in the state.

This is significant for drivers without an I-Pass because they will only have seven days to either mail in their toll amounts or to pay online.

Tolls are considered minimal; between 20 and 60 cents for I-Pass holders and roughly double for motorists without a transponder.
