A 14-year-old boy has died after he drowned in the Root River near the Washington Park Golf Course at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday. The boy, whose name has not been released, was swimming with friends. He went under, but never resurfaced. Rescue personnel from the Racine Fire Department found the boy. Life saving measures were performed, but they failed and he was pronounced dead, according to a press release by the Racine Police Department. Investigators learned the boy was playing near the storm sewer drains when he disappeared.
