This is my last story as an editor/co-owner of the Racine County Eye, and I wanted to say “Thank you” to our amazing audience of 70,000 monthly visitors (and growing) who continue to support the RCE mission of bringing you news you can use from throughout our community. Racine County Eye isn’t going anywhere – and neither am I, really – but I am taking a break. Denise will continue running the business and is taking over full ownership immediately.  I remain steadfast in Denise’s corner and will be here for her to help her continue succeeding doing what she loves through Racine County Eye. I have been covering the news in Racine County since 2001, starting as a stringer assigned to Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant before eventually moving on to the Mount Pleasant-Sturtevant Patch website and then Racine County Eye. I love being a reporter covering this amazing, contradictory, generous community, and those of you who know me understand that when I say “I love being a reporter” here, you know I mean it like LOVE and in all the ways that are for real for real. Denise and I started down this road by launching Racine County Eye on Halloween 2013 on Facebook and the website on January 1, 2014, and it has been a wild, exhausting and exhilarating ride ever since. We certainly never would have gotten off the ground without the assistance and advice of some pretty smart folks who continue to believe in us individually and together as Racine County Eye. And, of course, I cannot adequately express how very much I appreciate our readers who value what we do, challenge us to be better and ask some pretty hard questions that we really do try to answer. But, it’s time for me to take a break and step away to decompress a bit. For the last three years I have been working what amounts to two full-time jobs; my daytime gig and RCE. The simple truth is that I am tired and need to take some time to spend with my husband or even just to lie on the couch catching up on the long list of television shows clogging my DVR. Yes, I am still a TV addict, and no, I do not see it as a problem. 🙂 I’ll still be around, of course, and remain as nosy as ever, so if you have any news to share, you know I want to know about it! Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU.

Love what we do?

In addition to our education features, we’ll be kicking off a series of stories highlighting how parents, students, and educators are adapting to the impact of COVID-19 on education. If this is important to you, please consider donating to our education reporting fund.
