St. Patrick’s Day weekend means everything is coming up green in Racine County. Get out and about to a parade, live music, education and comedy. Real Racine has these suggestions.
Put on your green! Head to Downtown Racine for some wearin’ of the green and the big St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade steps off at 12 noon Saturday from State and Main streets. The parade route runs south down Main Street, then west down Sixth Street to wrap up near City Hall. You’ll see bagpipers, Irish musicians, mascots and maybe a leprechaun or two! Take a run. You can start your St. Patrick’s celebration with a fun run. The 3rd Annual St Pat’s Day 5k starts at 9 a.m. Saturday from Jose’s Blue Sombrero, 6430 Washington Ave., Mount Pleasant. The course follows the nearby Pike River Pathway. Registration at $30 includes a

Thinking green. Everyone is invited to Ecofest Racine, a free community celebration to share information and encourage participation in environmentally friendly living. Ecofest includes nearly 50 informational displays, ask-the-expert stations, presentations and kids’ activities. You’re invited to drop off unwanted electronic items for recycling. Ecofest runs from 9 a.m. to

Opera – Italian style. The Choral Arts Society of Southeastern Wisconsin presents “What’s Opera Doc?” at 7 p.m. Saturday at Roma Lodge, 7130 Spring St., Mount Pleasant. The program includes selections from legendary Italian operas performed a 60-voice chorus and opera professionals from the area. An assortment of Italian desserts and a cash bar are part of the experience. Admission is $25 in advance, $27 at the door for adults; $22 in advance, $24 at the door for seniors; $15 for students. For the kids. The Racine Children’s Theatre wraps up the 2016-17 season with “Goodnight Lulu” Friday through Sunday at the Racine Theatre Guild stage, 2519 Northwestern Ave. In this play, based on the Paulette Bogan, Momma Chicken runs into hurdles trying to tuck Lulu into bed. Performances are at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday and at 12, 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. All seats are $6. Visit www.racinetheatre.org
Scandinavian humor. The Comedy Tonight Series returns with “Ole and Lena’s 50th Wedding Anniversary and Vow Renewal.” Lena wants to renew her wedding vows but Ole is planning to win the Lodge’s ice fishing tournament – it’s a comedy about love, marriage and growing old together.
