Congratulations to the Gilmore Middle School music program for taking multiple prizes this weekend at the annual Heritage Music Festival in New York, NY.

The madrigal and swing choirs, chamber orchestra and jazz band all performed, and all were named winners in their categories, claimed several other distinctions, and will bring home the Festival Sweepstakes Award, the highest accolade available. Music program leaders posted the results on its Facebook page.

  • Music program: Spirit Award for “embodying the meaning and spirit of the Heritage Festival;” and Festival Sweepstakes Award
  • Jazz Band: Gold; Adjudicators Award; Most Outstanding Band; 2 students named Maestro Soloists
  • Madrigal Choir: Gold

  • Chamber Orchestra: Silver

Students have practiced for months and worked hard to raise the money to make the trip to New York. Along the way, they posted fundraising updates, videos of dances so swing choir students could practice at home and reminders of performances.

On Saturday they posted video of their award-winning performances. Click on the links below to see each group’s time on stage. Bravo! Brava!
