Congratulations to music students at Park High School for earning top honors at recent competitions.
Individual students earned superior ratings May 2 at the Wisconsin School Music Association contest at UW-Parkside:
Park’s Alternative String Ensemble, known as “Pops,” also earned a superior rating.
Additionally, the Panthers Wind and Jazz ensembles May 8 traveled to St. Louis, MO, for the National “Music in the Parks” competition.
Jazz students earned an excellent rating, finishing first with an overall score of 83.5.
The Wind Ensemble placed third with an overall score of 80 and an excellent rating.
Andrew Mertins, a junior trumpet player, was awarded the only individual award of the competition. He was named Outstanding Jazz Soloist.
Park students are directed by music teacher David Kapralian.
