Congratulations are in order for the Washington Park Panthers choirs after they placed at and near the top at two separate competitions.

During the state Solo/Ensemble contest May 7 at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, the Women’s Concert Chorale Vocal Jazz; Vocal Ensemble Madrigal; and Vocal Ensemble Show Choir all earned gold medals. Solo singers grabbed gold as well:

  • Noah Chartrand
  • Kayla Saavedra
  • Ashley Hubrich
  • Catherine Brooks
Hubrich also nabbed a silver medal for one of her performances, and Chartrand was named an exemplary soloist for the second year in a row.
Then, over the May 14-15 weekend, the choirs traveled to Six Flags Great America to participate in the national Music in the Parks competition. Scoring – like the event itself – is at a higher level than students normally experience, and once again the Panthers came out on top.
Excellent:
Florida Festival Choir (the group that went to Florida)
Women’s Concert Chorale
Vocal Ensemble Show Choir
Superior:
Chorus 1
Concert Choir
Vocal Ensemble Women’s Choir
The icing on the Music in the Parks competition came at the end when the Vocal Ensemble Women’s Choir was also named Best Overall Choir.
