The family of weekend homicide victim Dulondon Ratliff has established a fundraising campaign to help pay for Ratliff’s funeral services.
Ratliff was killed early Saturday morning by a single gunshot wound in the 300 block of Main Street.
On the fundraising site, Oksana Pohlson posted a description of Ratliff that depicts him as a hardworking young man happy to be the father of a four-month-old baby boy.
“He was a brother, a son, a friend, a very talented barber, and most of all a loving father to a 4 month old son,” she wrote. “He was just starting to make his way into the world.”
According to Pohlson, Ratliff was involved in an altercation at a downtown Racine bar that may have involved his sister. Readers on Racine Uncovered’s Facebook page say Ratliff exited the bar to pull his car around to the front, and that’s when he was shot.
The posted fundraising goal is $12,000, and since the site went live Monday, $528 has been collected.
“We wish to give him a proper burial, he deserves nothing but the best. So please, we ask that you help us raise the money so we can give him the best of the best for his final resting place,” Pohlson posted.
Racine police will only say Ratliff’s death remains under investigation as a homicide. Online jail records do not indicate there is anyone in custody.
