A woman who died in a car crash Sunday morning on Highway 11 has been identified as Shauntia Renel Brooks-Dobbs, 21, a resident of Racine County.

Officials were working on removing Brooks-Dobbs from the car when she succumbed to her injuries.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Shauntia Renel Brooks-Dobbs during this difficult time,” according to a press release by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

The semi driver was traveling westbound on Highway 11 and planned to make a left turn onto the northbound on-ramp of Highway 141. Brooks-Dobbs crashed into the trailer of the semi. The car then became wedged underneath the trailer.

Investigators on the scene do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. But it remains under investigation.

Gloria Brooks, Shauntia’s grandmother, started a GoFundMe fundraiser to raise money for her funeral.

“Unfortunately, we weren’t prepared for something like this,” Brooks wrote. “Shauntia was an intelligent young woman….whom we are going to miss dearly, The holidays will never be the same. We are hoping that you can find it in your hearts to make a donation so we can put my granddaughter to rest.”
