Union Grove, WI — A man from Appleton was arrested Tuesday after deputies found him in possession of marijuana and a gun.

Michael A. Gaylord, 61, was pulled over by a deputy with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department near the intersection of Hwy 20 and 53rd Drive in Union Grove after deputies received calls that his vehicle was being driven recklessly, according to a criminal complaint.

Another deputy showed up to the traffic stop to have a canine unit sniff Gaylord’s vehicle, and the dog alerted to him having controlled substances. The deputy found a bag of 4.5 grams of marijuana and a .22 caliber revolver in his car. Gaylord had been convicted of felonies and cannot have a firearm.

When he was being transported he was uncooperative and at one point required a spit mask after spitting at rescue workers the police called for him after he informed them of his history of seizures. He is charged with operating a vehicle with a revoked license, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by an out-of-state felon, disorderly conduct and five counts of bail jumping.
