An early morning fire caused an undetermined amount of damage to an industrial ironing machine valued at $500,000.
Racine Fire Capt. Mark Villalpando in a written release said firefighters responded to a fire early Saturday morning to a report of a fire at Imperial Cleaning on 13th Street.
A piece of fabric got caught between two rollers on a machine. Because the rollers are made of iron, they get very hot, Villalpando’s release reads. The fabric ignited and the fire spread to combustible materials nearby. When maintenance workers could not put out the flames with fire extinguishers, they called 9-1-1.
Despite the fire causing an undetermined amount of damage to the $500,000 machine, there was no damage to the building, and no one was injured. Imperial Cleaning is expected to be open Saturday.
